Snap each spear by holding it in the centre and bending the tail end until it finds its own weak spot and snaps off. Discard the tail woody end.
Peel the garlic and slice into thin long slivers.
Add parchment paper or foil to a baking dish.
Arrange the asparagus spears allowing a small gap between each one.
Scatter the garlic slivers over the asparagus.
Drizzle the olive oil, only enough to coat each spear, not too much.
Season with salt and pepper.
Using your hands, roll each spear into the olive oil ensuring they are all thoroughly coated.
Bake in oven for 10 minutes at 400°F – 200°C
Serve immediately.
Grate a little Parmesan cheese on asparagus before roasting and serve it as an entree.
Add a little lemon zest for that extra zing.
